vegan orange squares

Hello, it is so nice to be able to share yet another quick and delicious recipe with you guys. This morning I have woken up feeling super creative and thinking that I want orange cake!

To make this recipe you only need really inexpensive ingredients, although I used agave nectar in this recipe, if you find it hard to access this ingredients you can simply add extra coconut sugar instead.

Vegan orange squares

Vegan orange squares

  • 2 cups ordinary white flour

  • 2tsp baking powder

  • Zest and juice from one large orange

  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar

  • 1/4 cup agave nectar

  • 1 cup of dairy-free milk (I used rice milk)

  • 1/2 cup olive oil

  • pinch of salt

  1. Begin by preheating the oven to 180C degrees.

  2. Zest and squeeze the juice from one orange.

  3. Sieve the flour mixed with the baking powder onto a large mixing bowl.

  4. Pour the coconut sugar over the dry ingredients, following by the milk, agave, orange juice and zest, mix to combine the ingredients to form the cake batter.

  5. Pour the olive oil and pinch of salt and mix further (don’t over mix the batter)

  6. Pour the batter over a greased square tray and bake for approximately 25 minutes.

  7. Once you remove the cake from the oven, allow it to cool for a good 30 minutes, before removing it from the baking tray.

  8. Slice in even squares and enjoy!
